Punishing: Gray Raven Review
Punishing: Gray Raven is a 3D ARPG developed by Kuro Games and has taken the world by storm with over five hundred thousand installs. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world where Punishing the virus infected all robots, led them to eliminate humans and took over Earth. As a commander of Gray Raven Squat, you need to lead Constructs or human-turned fighting cyborgs to take the planet back.
The trailer below may help you know basic features of Punishing: Gray Raven. To get the insight, follow me to walk the game through.
Constructs
Constructs come in three classes: Attacker, Tank and Support. Your journey will start with a Attacker named Lucia, who’s excelled at hack ‘n slash. In most cases, I could succeed in a battle in the blink of an eye with Lucia alone. Her attack is so cool that I often forgot there were other members in my squat.
But this doesn’t mean Tank and Support Constructs are weak. They can be as powerful as long as you are familiar with their fighting approaches and invest in upgrading and promoting them. For example, Liv, a Support Construct, is good at long-range combat, though her attack is not that powerful. But you can increase her attack power by keep leveling her up, promoting her to Hero, the highest promotion level, and upgrading her weapons and memories. Of my three team members, Liv even has the higher battle power than Lucia.
If you want to have new combat experience, you may consider recruiting new members into your squat from research.
Battle
Battling is the most thrilling part of the game. One reason is that the way that Constructs attack the corrupted is more than monotonous. Every basic attack comes from different directions from the last one, with the construct running and jumping, making the fight more of a sword dance than of a bloody battle.
As you use basic attack against the corrupted, a random colored orb is generated, which delivers special attack. And if you 3-ping orbs, or link three same colored orbs, the Construct would make a special move.
Additionally, when the blue bar below the HP bar is charged up, it’s time to deliver a super attack, which can eliminate all enemies.
But don’t get me wrong -- battle is not all about attacking enemies unstoppable. It is also about dodging attacks, because it’s not guaranteed that you’re always more powerful than the corrupted. There are tricks of dodging, of course. One that I love the most is to freeze the corrupted for five seconds by narrowly escaping from their attack, so that I could take them down without getting hurt.
During a fight, you may have up to three Constructs in your team. Though they don’t fight simultaneously, chances are you can enlist the help of the other two members briefly when their avatars are highlighted. And if the Construct you are using has died or lost too much HP, you can swap to another Construct by simply tapping an avatar.
Graphics & Controls
Punishing: Gray Raven has a super clean and modern look. Graphics are great enough that you won’t be able to resist. As a mobile action game, it is easy to control and you won’t feel it difficult to attack, dodge or move. I am not a fan of action games, but this one is definitely an exception. With its 3D graphics and easy controls, it enables beginners like me to get the pleasure of fighting.
Conclusion
If you love ARPG, Punishing: Gray Raven is one of the top games released recently worth your attention. The thrilling combat experience, fine graphics and easy controls won’t let you down. Download it now on APKPure.fo for free and enjoy exciting 3D battles!
